The first overlooked concept that helps with a better and straight drive is through the grip that is used. If you have a tight grip or don’t position your hands in the correct area, then it will lead to an angle in the hit. One of the recommended positions is the choke grip. You also want to hold your hands closer to the edge of the club for better guidance and control. This helps with the focus that you need to drive the ball and will ensure that the aim from your swing leads to a straighter movement.

Because hitting a golf ball straight means being accurate, consistent and controlled, you want to have the right grip and also want to have the right throttle back. Stopping at shoulder height is recommended for those that want to have a straight ball. When you are preparing for the hit at this point, you also want to make sure that your legs are stable, your hips are back and that your upper body turns. This position will give more power to compensate for the lower back-swing while helping to send a straight aim with your ball.
