Fixing a Faulty Shot

If you have shot your best on the course and have found your ball off track while in the green, then the number one priority is to get back on track for a better score.

The first step to take when fixing a faulty shot is to begin changing the location you are in. For instance, if you are in an area that seems patchy or off balance, then making sure you are able to change your surroundings by finding a section of green that is flat can help you to swing the ball in the right direction. If you are putting, then you will want to find a static line to the hole as well, so you know whether you are pushing or pulling the putts you have on the green.

The main problem that is associated with faulty shots doesn’t necessarily come from difficulty from the location, but comes from the form that you are focused on with your shots. You will want to check both your backstroke and through-stroke to make sure you are not moving outside of your aim on the green. If you are not hitting this correctly, then it can cause your ball to move outside of the path you are trying to create.

If you are still having difficulties with getting your golf ball to move in the right direction, then you will want to consider the aim that you are using. Your eyes, face and body should all be aligned with the ball so you can control the outcome of your put. For instance, if you are looking at your aim, then your eyes should have a focus that makes the ball look like it is splitting in half from the hole. Your body should also be parallel and slightly left, with guidance from your feet having a perpendicular angle toward the ball. Through this alignment, you will easily be able to move your ball back into the right direction.

If you keep missing your main aim for putting your ball into the right area of the green, then knowing how to fix the geometry and the alignment is the first step to changing the outcome of your puts and golf hits. By refocusing your body, swing and alignment to the hole, you will easily be able to get back on track with the hit that you need.
