The Tiger Woods Incident – Our Take

Its been some time that we haven’t really got a chance to make a new post but with this Tiger Woods incident happening, we thought we should put up our views too to our readers.

While by now most of us have read multiple coverages of the way things are shaping for Tiger, the latest addition perhaps is Tiger’s public apology, that he posted on his website.

Tiger writes, “I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.”

While we do not support Tiger on his series of “transgressions” ( Rachel Uchitel, Jaimee Grubbs, Kalika Moquin ), we do sympathize with him for the fact that he isn’t just trying to sort things out with his family but at the same time he is dealing with immense “tabloid scrutiny” which indeed can be a serious threat to anyone’s privacy. being the world’s no. 1 golfer doesn’t really take away Tiger’s right to some minimal privacy.

Tiger also writes, “I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.”

While this has been a devastating experience for Tiger and all his fans, this has also resulted in a new found interest for the tabloids in Golf. With the increasing popularity of websites like TMZ, there’s no doubt about the reach that the tabloids could have and we hope it does at least some good for the sport of golf and not limits itself to sneaking into private life of golfers.
